Other Inspirations

Well I decided to mention all the people who inspire me. I just posted something on Gerard Way so I was like "Hey, why don't I mention all the other people who inspire me?" So I did. See? You're reading it right now. Well technallly not right now. Because I'm typing. So unless you're reading over my shoulder... Anyway, let's proceed.

One person who inspires me is Evanescence and, more specifically, Amy Lee. Amy Lee inspires me because Evanescence was the first band I got really into. Evanescence is definately one of my favorite bands. They have a great sound and the songs are really deep and they come from experiences in Amy Lee's life.

These are the members of Evanescence:

Amy Lee-vocals, piano, keyboard
Terry Balsamo-guitar
Tim McCord-bass

Former members include:

Ben Moody(co-founder)-guitar (1998-2003)
Rocky Gray-drums (2002-2007)
John LeCompt-guitar, backing vocals (2002-2007)
David Hodges-keyboard, piano, backing vocals (1999-2002)

Evanescence has inspired me to create my own band. I love her music and her look. It's great. I also love that Amy doesn't believe that you have to strip on stage or take nude pictures of yourself to get attention. She also believes being in a band is not for attention, it's for expressing yourself and making a difference. Amy really has inspired me.

“If people make fun of you, it probably means you're doing something right.”-Amy Lee

The next two people I am going to talk about both are involved my chorus (YPC). One is Elizabeth Ziman. Elizabeth has inspired me because just as I was giving up hope on starting a new band, I saw her perform "Devil's Calling" at Carnegie Hall. Elizabeth was one of the first members of YPC when the chorus first started. After graduating from YPC, she created her own band called Elizabeth and the Catapult. She's an amazing singer. She has a clear, pure tone and a strong voice. Unfortunately, she's not very popular. But she should be! So here's her website:

Another person from my chorus is Francisco Nunez. Francisco is the founder and head conducter of the Young People's Chorus of New York. He has not just inspired me, but many others to get out and sing. He made me the musician I am today and he is so inspiring.

(the following conversation is in rehersal right before our dinner break. After dinner I would sing a solo in the song Pie Jesu. It was my debut at Carnegie Hall and I was really nervous. I have a very soft voice and I couldn't project it at all. I was the only one who knew the song, though and this is the conversation that occured)

Francisco- "You have to sing. You have no choice. That's what you do. You sing. That is your job. It's what you do. Sing. What are you here to do?"

Me- "Sing."

Francisco- " So what are you going to do?"

Me- "Sing."

"Out there (indicates to rehersal door) you are children. In here you are young artists."-Francisco Nunez

Now this might sound really random, but I would quickly like to mention cowgirl4christ who is a member of google and the owner of two great blogs, music.is.life and cowgirl4christ. she has inspired me because of her maturaty and thoughtfullness in her posts. The blog music.is.life is all about music: bands, songs, music videos, etc. She titles the post with the name of the song and then gives a little info on the artist and why she likes that song. Then she puts the music video and the lyrics. The blog cowgirl4christ is just about everything else. Her feelings, her life, poems, qoutes, and other great stuff. I don't know her personally, but she seems like a great person and very smart, too.

Evanescence is an amazing band, and I love Amy Lee as well. That is a great quote by Amy ... I'll remember that one.
And thanks for the dedication, lol ... glad I could be an inspiration to someone. Glad I could make a little difference in someone's world.

You have the power to make a difference if you have the guts to try. ~Gerard Way
